From APIs to Action: How thinkshop Emerged from an Industry Challenge

The Problem Was Never Just Technical

Over the past year, one theme kept returning in CPaaSAA’s Network API discussions.

Not technology.

Not standards.

Not APIs themselves.

Execution.

Across our Working Groups, events, and ecosystem conversations, the same challenge surfaced repeatedly: the industry is making enormous progress on Network APIs technically — but translating that momentum into enterprise understanding, alignment, and real-world adoption remains difficult.

Enterprises often struggle to connect APIs to business outcomes.

Telcos struggle to explain the opportunity in practical terms.

Developers, product teams, strategists, and commercial leaders are frequently not aligned.

And many discussions still remain too technical, too fragmented, or too disconnected from real customer problems.

That realization became the starting point for something new.

From Working Group Discussion to Practical Framework

Over the past months, CPaaSAA has been working closely with Courtney Latta and the thinkshop team on developing a more practical, workshop-driven approach to Network API acceleration.

The goal was simple:

Help organizations move from abstract API discussions toward concrete business opportunities, ecosystem alignment, and executable use cases.

Because while initiatives like GSMA Open Gateway, CAMARA, and emerging aggregation platforms are hugely important, the industry still needs better ways to:

That is where thinkshop started to take shape.

And what is exciting is that this approach is now evolving into something much broader than Network APIs alone.

Today, thinkshop (thinkshop.co) is emerging as a practical innovation and facilitation model that can be applied across a much wider set of transformation challenges.

Why This Matters Now

Honestly, this feels incredibly timely.

Because one of the biggest risks in telecom and communications right now is not lack of innovation.

It is fragmentation.

The industry is full of smart people, initiatives, APIs, AI platforms, standards bodies, vendors, consultants, and innovation programs. But too often, these worlds still operate separately.

Meanwhile enterprises are looking for outcomes, not complexity.

This is also why CPaaSAA increasingly talks about Intelligent Engagement as the bigger industry opportunity — bringing together communications, AI, APIs, identity, trust, automation, and customer experience into real-time business value.

But making that future real requires more than technology stacks.

It requires collaboration models.

Shared language.

Practical frameworks.

Cross-ecosystem alignment.

And environments where different parts of the ecosystem can actually work through problems together.

A Different Type of Partner

thinkshop is emerging as a new type of strategic facilitation and innovation partner for the communications ecosystem.

Not traditional consulting.

Not another standards body.

Not just innovation theater.

But a practical methodology for helping organizations:

In many ways, this reflects where the broader communications industry itself is heading.

Less siloed.

More collaborative.

More outcome-driven.

More ecosystem-oriented.

From Conversation to Execution

For CPaaSAA, this is also an important proof point.

Some of the best ideas do not come from strategy decks or top-down programs.

They emerge organically from real industry friction.

From recurring conversations.

From shared frustrations.

From ecosystems trying to solve practical problems together.

That is exactly what happened here.

And it is a great example of what CPaaSAA increasingly aims to become as a platform — not just connecting the ecosystem, but helping create practical pathways from insight to execution.

We are excited to continue building this together.

Not just around Network APIs.

But around the broader challenge facing the industry:

How do we help innovation move faster from idea to impact?
