Tata Communications announced on June 28 its acquisition of Kaleyra for USD 100M.
This acquisition continues two trends we highlighted in our 2023 State of CPaaS report:
- M&A activity is increasing in the CPaaS market
- Communications Service Providers are looking to CPaaS as a growth engine
With its acquisition of Kaleyra, Tata Communications adds key capabilities that will accelerate growth:
- Co-creator services to deliver CX-focused solutions for Tata’s large global customers
- Low-code / no-code omni-channel tools for voice, messaging, and video that are easy to sell and deploy
- Deep presence and capabilities in the banking & financial services, retail, and digital commerce industries
We see an increasing number of communications providers adding these flexible communications solutions and capabilities to their portfolio. Successful providers are partnering with CPaaS enablers or acquiring CPaaS providers to increase success and reduce time to market. Other notable & recent CPaaS acquisitions include Ericsson’s acquisition of Vonage and TelcoDR’s Skyvera acquiring Kandy’s cloud assets.
